Don Services is Hiring a Direct Support Professional (PT) Near Castle, PA
- Night Shift!!
- All duties must be carried out in accordance with the organizational policies and applicable laws.
- All activities must reflect the Independent Living Philosophy.
- The ODP Direct Support Professional will abide by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- The ODP Direct Support Professional will perform services in the consumer control manner whenever they are related in the consumer’s service plan. This means that the ODP Direct Support Professional will ask the consumers for direction in all activities and perform those activities in the manner requested by that consumer.
- The ODP Direct Support Professional will provide personal care and homemaking tasks in the consumer’s home or community as assigned by DON staff and the consumer. Tasks may include bathing, escorting, reading and others as assigned.
- The ODP Direct Support Professional will accompany the consumer outside the home when directed by the consumer and by DON when included in the service plan.
- Assists the consumer in work or leisure activities.
- Performs variety of miscellaneous duties as requested such as obtaining household supplies and running errands.
- The ODP Direct Support Professional will report in writing any problems encountered on the job or any suggestions to the consumer’s service plan.
- The ODP Direct Support Professional maintains accurate records of time worked.
- The ODP Direct Support Professional is responsible for transportation to and from the job site which may vary according to the consumer’s home and may be up to 50 miles from the ODP Direct Support Professional’s home.
- Other duties as assigned.
- There are no supervisory responsibilities under this position.
- ODP Direct Support Professionals must obtain approval on all activities within the service plan from the consumer and all activities outside the service plan from DON.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Be 18 years of age or older;
- Have the required skills to perform ODP Direct Support Professional care services as specified in consumer’s service plan;
- Possess basic math, reading, and writing skills;
- Possess a valid Social Security number;
- Be willing to submit to a criminal records check;
- When required by the consumer, the ODP Direct Support Professional must be able to demonstrate the capability to perform health maintenance activities specified in the consumer’s service plan or be willing to receive training to be able to provide the health maintenance activities specified in the consumer’s service plan.
- Valid Driver's License, Automobile Registration, Automobile Insurance and Inspection.
- Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- References stating that person can competently perform this work will be required.
- The consumers themselves may have specific requirements for qualifications and these requests will be honored.
